The Anacostia Hours Inc. is committed to establishing a local currency system that promotes local economic strength and community self-reliance in ways that will support economic and social justice, ecology, community participation and human aspirations.

GOALS:

We will work to promote this mission by fostering a local money supply in ways which would:

strengthen our sense of community.

realize the environmental benefits of keeping jobs and shopping close to home.
provide increased economic opportunities to residents of all levels of skills and talents so everyone’s needs are met.

reduce our dependence on the larger corporate economy and their chain stores, which drains our communities of wealth.
